What is TRACE?

Past events can be reconstructed from the traces left by footsteps or vehicles, or from trails. —Wolfgang Meisenheimer

Trace is a filtering process traditionally employed in design that uses transparent film or translucent paper through which parts of an under-drawing are selectively tracked and duplicated in order to advance a design idea

When a new architecture is fixed into a place in space and time, a more profound connection can be evoked through memory and through the architectural inscription of historical traces on a site.
